Yay, the Battle of the Strippers has begun its 14th season, and I am participating again!
Let's see if I can last for 30 days again with the least amount of fillers!

Those of you who have seen today's strip may have noticed that it was obviously a rant.
Yes, that's right. There is a civic workers' strike going on, demanding a fair contract, to keep the 18 bankable sick days, and what not. Because of that, the garbage is not picked up and is piling up everywhere, the downtown is downright filthy, and yet they don't even allow us to bring the garbage to the dump sites by ourselves. If we bring it and leave it at the closed sites, they will fine us for illegal dumping. WTF?! The city has made certain parks and empty fields as temporary dump site, and because of that, many sports teams are unable to practice at the field... unless you want to kick a bag of garbage instead of a soccer ball. Many city-run facilities are closed, and holding city-run events are just impossible because there is no one to maintain them, thus the cancellation of many of the events for CANADA DAY, because volunteers are just not enough. Aren't these people Canadians themselves?!

It's not that I don't understand their cause, but it's always the unionized government workers (I'm looking at you, TTC) who actually get paid very well and have the best benefits that keep going on strike while us regular tax-paying peons (who have far less wages and benefits) are suffering from it. Besides, I don't think the city even has any more money to give them in the first place. Everyone is having a hard time with the state of North American economy being as it is now. They should be glad that they even have a job, while thousands of people are getting laid off every day, sheesh!!!

Oh, by the way, while some of the Canada Day celebrations were cancelled, the gay pride parade which took place a few days ago was enlarged because it attracts lots of tourists. Nice going Toronto, for having the priorities set 'straight.'

Oh well. I sure hope that they learn their lesson and get back to work. Sorry for all the ranting and thanks for reading up to here if you actually did. It's not often that I vent out like this.
